You probably do, but it is a simple process. You can give temporary events notice (TEN) to your local council if the event will last no more than 96 hours and is for 500 people or less. It can be for any licensable activity such as certain entertainment and the sale of alcohol. Ten days’ notice must be given to the council and the police can object if they so wish depending on the event you are planning.

You should note that under existing licensing laws your premises cannot be used for more than 12 such events each year or for more than 15 days in total – and there must be at least 24 hours between events where each event has a TEN.
