Wills question:
My solicitor has quoted me a charge of 1% of my recently deceased fathers total assets on top of his hourly fee of £200 plus any additional payments incurred for sorting his affairs, probate etc, is this right?

Essentially, it is up to the firm to set their charges. Most firms charge a percentage in this way although the firm that I work for, does not. Our hourly rate is also substantially lower. You may wish to shop around before you instruct your solicitor.
