As you'd expect from a lawyer, the answer is "that depends". To give a definite answer I would need much more information I'm afraid.

You need to think about whether you have a contract with the solicitor and what their reaction would be if you tried to go elsewhere. Would they demand that you pay them before they released any papers or would they be prepared to wait until the claim settled? I think you ought to speak to them first to let them know you are not happy. They may be able to move you to a different person in the firm.

But if you are desperate, then you could look elsewhere. Remember you may only have 3 years from the accident to settle the claim or issue Court proceedings.
