Consumer and shopping claims question:

I recently had a bathroom extension, but because of major problems we are having leaking problems. We’re getting nowhere with getting the builders to repair the damage. What should we do?

You can take the builders to court by going through the Small Claims Court. This involves minimal cost, is an easy process and can be done for claims of up to £5,000. You can also do it without needing a solicitor. Before taking this route, write a formal letter to the builders telling them you plan to issue court proceedings and give them a few days to respond – it just might do the trick.

If you make a claim through the courts, make sure you have photos and other documentary evidence to back up your claim.
